Images extracted from a competition entry submitted for a mixed-use `infill scheme` within central Cardiff.
This competition entry was a speculative project completed to demonstrate how existing `inner city` spaces could be better utilised to create dynamic and rewarding spaces for shops, bars and retail outlets.
Re-energising Inner-City Areas
The project took a rarely used backstreet adjacent to the main shopping street in Cardiff City Centre and proposed a development that responded to the space and the historical `Victorian Arcades` of the town centre.
While this project was only speculative and was completed as an opportunity to showcase how good design can change an existing disused space, the project received interest from several developers looking to utilise similar principles to increase the value and usability of existing buildings and land they own.
